A peaceful breath of fresh Mississippi air describes Sherry Myers’ genuine Southern personality. It’s easy to see why an anxious homebuyer or seller would find solace and comfort in the calm of her demeanor.
At first glance, you might wonder what this polished, gregarious Southern belle could know about the craftsmanship and functional details of a home; however, Sherry is quick to explain, “My Daddy built every house we ever lived in and my brother and I did whatever we could to help.”
This continued after she married her husband, Tommy, as she subcontracted the building of two of their homes. She says, “We were tiling rooms, wiring plug-ins, putting up insulation, and even laying brick--anything we could do to save a buck. Of course, I always had my hair sprayed and earrings on, but it was fun. I was taught when I was young that I could do anything God wanted me to do and that has carried forward into my adult life.”
In 1997, Sherry and her husband, Tommy, moved to Gainesville, Georgia, from Laurel, Mississippi. Seven years later, after home-schooling their two children, Christie and Brett, the former college professor with a Master's in Business Education decided to change careers. Sherry’s desire was a profession that would allow her to meet new people and influence lives in a meaningful way, and she felt God leading her into a real estate career. Thus, in the fall of 2004, she received her real estate license and began work with the Norton Agency. Having confidence in her abilities from her personal experience as the daughter of a home builder, as well as years of purchasing and selling investment properties and subcontracting the construction of two homes, she was thrilled to have a way to put her experience together with her desire to help people as they made one of the largest investments of their lives or selling property that contained memories dear to them.
“I wanted to do something where I could meet and interact with people every day,” she says. “Buying and selling a home is a deeply personal process, and I see it as a ministry to be there for the families I serve and act as a conduit to find their next home.”
Sherry experienced a great degree of success over the next ten years, serving as president of the Hall County Board of REALTORS® in 2012 and then receiving the Board’s Phoenix Award in 2014, representing ten years of being a top producer.
In the fall of 2014, Sherry and Tommy decided to relocate to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, into a home that had been a second home for them over the past ten years. Because of their positive experience with a dear Weichert agent, Sherry chose to join Weichert REALTORS® Coastal Properties.
Sherry’s threefold focus for home buyers is to help them make a smart investment, purchase the right home, and have a smooth process. Her focus for sellers is to help them get the best price for their home, to effectively communicate with them throughout the process, and to have a smooth closing.
“People often ask how I stay so calm in an often high-stress atmosphere, but it’s simple: I work hard to do my best, and I trust God with the rest,” she says. “I know helping a client buy or sell a home is bigger than just me. I cannot do it alone, and I do not try to.”
